Spox: Russia, Belarus continue contacts on $1 bln debt restructuring
MOSCOW, Aug 28 (PRIME) -- Russia and Belarus continue contacts on restructuring of a U.S. $1 billion debt of Belarus, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.
"I will leave this question to our financial authorities, they are in contact with their Belarusian colleagues… The contacts continue," Peskov said.
On Thursday, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said he had agreed to restructure the debt with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and to keep the money.
Peskov separately said that Russia is worried about the economic consequences of political situation in Belarus.
